We all know how it feels to breathe a sigh of relief when something in life feels right, deep down. There’s a sense of quiet joy, a feeling of warmth and good will, of being at peace. Watching Jessica and Richard on their wedding day, it was clear that they were both exactly where they are meant to be! There is something about the way they look at each other…something special that I don’t see very often. Surrounded by loved ones who support them and are proud of them, they tied the knot in a beautiful December ceremony at The Carolina Inn that will lift my heart for many days to come.
I’ve known Jessica and Richard for a few months now. I was delighted to work on their engagement session back in September. We spent a very pleasant afternoon together on the Eno River, and I got to meet their sweet pups Charlie and Ellie! And of course I learned how their family and friends played cupid for them (they were both doing residencies at UNC and were quite busy at the start of their courtship), so sweet! Jessica mentioned that she felt drawn to my work because she could see the emotion and love in my photos (an amazing compliment!). She said she wanted to capture the same kinds of memories on her own wedding day, so I knew from the start that I would love working with these two!
Jessica and Richard’s friend Sophie (one of their primary matchmakers) officiated in a very meaningful and personal ceremony. The bride was beyond stunning, the picture of elegance and grace. After the ceremony, Jessica and Richard kept stealing happy glances at one another. I could tell it was just beginning to sink in for them that they had finally done it…they were husband and wife! Absolutely beautiful. And I must mention their cake! They both love canoeing, so the top of the cake was a canoe sculpture! A unique touch that celebrated one of the many things they share. This was truly the perfect way for me to wrap up my 2016 wedding season! Thank you Jessica and Richard! I wish you the happiest of holidays and a wonderful New Year!
Thanks Sally Oakley Weddings & Events, so wonderful to work with you! Such a perfect day!
