The aged brick and plaster and warm lighting of Havana 59 in Richmond practically transports you to a different era…one full of mystery and romance! Salsa dancers gather every Thursday night to swirl and spin in this magical ambience…and it was here that Loren and Edgar’s paths crossed. A dance, some good conversation…and then Loren snuck out, creating a little mystery herself! Edgar was persistent in his search, though, and soon tracked her down online. A first date was arranged. Loren was quickly charmed by Edgar’s smile and respectful ways; despite their obvious chemistry, he waited on a first kiss when he walked her to her car that night. It was the beginning of something life-changing for both of them!
Five years on, Loren and Edgar have only grown stronger together. I loved learning the story of Edgar’s proposal! Last winter, Edgar and his two children joined Loren’s extended family for a big dinner. It was the first time everyone met…and a truly spectacular moment to pop the question! After dinner, Edgar began to talk about family and before Loren knew it, he was down on one knee in front of everyone! Getting to witness this moment was meaningful for everyone in Loren’s family, but especially for her grandmother. And the fact that Edgar included his children in planning the surprise is the sweetest thing. These two are truly kind, caring, good people!
I’m so grateful that Havana 59 allowed us to do part of our engagement session on site. I know it meant the world to Loren and Edgar. We walked, talked and enjoyed the time together. As I headed home afterwards, my heart was full, and I was already looking forward to their wedding!
