NC Museum of Art Weddings | Amanda and Robbie

NC Museum of Art Weddings

I feel so lucky to attend many beautiful events at historic locations with either a rustic or a classic feel. The South is full of incredible history and vibrant landscapes, but it’s also home to some impressive modern architecture! So every once in a while, a wedding comes along and shakes things up for me with a very different backdrop. Amanda and Robbie’s day was just such an event! Their summer wedding and reception took place at the NC Museum of Art in Raleigh. This modern space contains many windows, so the play of natural light is absolutely brilliant. And Amanda was a jaw-dropping bride! Her bright white dress was so elegant, and fit right in with the venue. She looked stunning!

Amanda and Robbie are both very sweet people, and their spirits were high all day, despite the hot weather! From behind my lens, I found myself remembering the story of their engagement, which Amanda shared with me when I was first getting to know her. From 2015 – 2016, Amanda was living in Copenhagen, Denmark and Robbie came out to visit her in the spring. Knowing how much Amanda loves ice cream, he invited her out for a stroll and a treat one day…and soon the couple found themselves standing before a very special bridge in Nyhavn. Sometimes called the ‘love lock bridge’, it’s famous for being covered in hundreds of locks. Couples write their names on a small lock, attach it to the bridge, and then toss the key into the water below. As Amanda and Robbie stood before the bridge, Robbie produced a lock inscribed with the words ‘Will you marry me?’ Of course Amanda’s answer was yes! It was very touching to think of that lock still in Copenhagen, as Amanda and Robbie were tying the knot here in Raleigh! Such a special, lasting symbol…for a very special couple. After 8 years together they became husband and wife and it was truly wonderful! I wish them all the best, and hope you enjoy the sneak peek of their day!

While I was photographing Amanda, Robbie started tearing up. So very sweet!
