Biltmore Forest Country Club Weddings | Ali & Kyle

Biltmore Forest Country Club Weddings

Ali and Kyle got married early Spring in the beautiful North Carolina Mountains. The ceremony and reception took place at the Biltmore Forest Country Club in Asheville. This laid back couple was surrounded by their closest friends and family, it was for sure a wonderful day and everyone had a blast. Ali wore a stunning off the shoulder Pallas Couture wedding dress, such an elegant and timeless bride.

It is always a pleasure to work alongside such incredible vendors, especially Jay with In Bloom Ltd. Our paths crossed a few times in the past and his florals are always exquisite. Below you will see a sneak peek of their wedding day, I hope you enjoy it the way I did!

Fleetwood Farm Winery Leesburg Wedding | Tayler & Casey

As I’ve mentioned before, 2018 was a big year for me. It was full to the brim with travel, amazing work and a relocation to Texas! As I’ve been settling into my new life and job as a San Antonio wedding photographer, I’ve spent the last few weeks looking back on some exceptional experiences from the past season. I’m so happy to wrap this chapter up with an entry about Tayler and Casey’s gorgeous (and remarkable!) December wedding in Virginia.
I first met these two in person for their downtown Alexandria engagement session last October. But right before we got together, Tayler and Casey received some tremendous news: they’re expecting! Following the rush of joy, I know Tayler experienced a big ‘oh my gosh’ moment. They had already begun planning their wedding for November of 2019 – over a year in the future! Several deep breaths and an admirable re-organization effort later, Tayler and Casey had moved their wedding up to December of 2018. That’s just a month and a half of re-planning! And it came off so beautifully!! Real proof that with Love, all things are possible!
The intimate ceremony took place at the bride’s parent’s stunning residence. The warm fireplace and nearby Christmas tree lent a special glow to the vows as Tayler and Casey’s nearest and dearest looked on. It was a very emotional ceremony – a joyous and deeply meaningful moment for these two hearts and their families. The larger reception took place at Fleetwood Farm Winery, where Casey proposed. At the end of the celebration, sparklers lit up the crisp night as the new husband and wife shared a kiss before their exit. A magical moment indeed!

I’ll never forget my time with Tayler and Casey, their wedding was good for my soul. As I watched Tayler in her parent’s living room, I remember thinking what a kind, strong, adaptable woman stood before me – exactly the kind of person who inspires me most. What a wonderful way to close the wedding season of 2018! I hope you enjoy the photos.

So many sweet moments throughout the day! In the middle of happy tears Tayler’s dad stopped reading the card she wrote to him and said: “Wow, this is harder than CrossFit on a bad day!” We all cracked up, of course!

Merrimon Wynne Weddings | Taryn & MG

Sometimes a wedding is truly a delight for the senses…a work of art created by the bride, the groom and their vendors, and offered up for the enjoyment of the guests. I believe that attention to detail is what elevates a wedding to this level. Designer Charles Eames once said “The details are not the details. They make the design.” This statement seems particularly true as I think back on Taryn and MG’s beautiful wedding at the Merrimon Wynne House, perfectly coordinated by A Southern Soiree.
Taryn and MG met at a party in 2011, through mutual friends. A couple of months later, they knew they’d found something very special! Simply being together means the world to these two, it doesn’t matter what they’re doing! Just so long as they have their sweet Labrador Retriever Molly by their side. When MG proposed, the couple decided to tie the knot where their relationship started (in Raleigh) surrounded by their nearest and dearest. And that’s exactly what they did last November!
Every detail of the day held meaning for these two. Taryn wore an Enzoani gown with a cathedral-length veil and hair clips that her sister wore on her own wedding day. These hair clips will become keepsakes, passed down through the generations. One of the most unique details was the bespoke crest created for the occasion by Simply Jessica Marie. The crest incorporates images that hold deep meaning for Taryn and MG, and they used it as a motif on napkins, pillowcases, programs and cups. The guest book bore an original watercolor by artist BECCA – a beautiful picture of the Merrimon Wynne House that Taryn and MG will display in their home. Such sweet and artistic ways to express their love story! As for the wedding photos, there was a very special moment for me centered around the portraits. I mentioned to Taryn and MG that I loved how this part of the day felt so unhurried. Most guys (my husband included!) aren’t too fond of standing for portraits. But MG replied that Taryn had put so much thought into the wedding, and that she would value the photos so much, so standing patiently for portraits was the least he could do. So sweet!
I hope you enjoy these photos of Taryn and MG’s special day. And if you’re interested in learning more about the unique details of their wedding, they were featured on Style Me Pretty!

San Antonio Engagement Photos | Nicole & Tony

Hello and happy Spring! I am so thrilled to begin this season with an absolutely stunning couple! Nicole, Tony and I spent a wonderful morning recently capturing photos at the San Antonio Riverwalk and Mission San José. It was a great way to officially start my new chapter as a San Antonio wedding photographer!
Nicole and Tony’s story is very inspirational because it speaks to True Love’s tendency to appear at just the right moment – perhaps where and when we least expect it. Nicole and Tony knew each other for over a decade before they got together. Early on, they worked in the same company, in a tight-knit team that enjoyed happy hours and social events as a group. Their connection was friendly, but that was it. As time went on, work and personal situations changed, they eventually lost touch. Cut to a few years later: Nicole and Tony found themselves working in the same building once more. At this point, the timing was right and they began spending more and more time together. Soon the spark between them became difficult to ignore! They decided to give it a try…and now they are so very much in love. It absolutely radiates from them!
Tony surprised Nicole with a Valentine’s Day proposal on Marriage Island, located on the San Antonio Riverwalk. Amidst joyous applause from on-lookers, Nicole said ‘Yes!’ Truly a sweet proposal, to which Tony gave a lot of thought: he later told Nicole he chose the spot because he wanted them to be able to return again and again. And that’s exactly what we did for their engagement session! I can’t tell you how much I love doing a session in a location that’s deeply meaningful to the couple. It’s a wonderful way to incorporate more of their story into the photographs, and to make the session extra comfortable and special on the whole. But I have a sneaking suspicion that Nicole and Tony would have been comfortable anywhere we went! They are so in tune with one another and clearly share an incredible connection! They were relaxed and giggling, and it was a privilege to be behind the lens as they enjoyed the time together. And I have to confess: I am a little bit obsessed with Nicole’s hair! Holy moly, it’s so long and beautiful! Truly a stunning, smart, kind woman – with a groom to match! I can’t wait to photograph their wedding in May and to work with Sweet August Events. I hope you enjoy these photos from their San Antonio Riverwalk and Mission San José engagement session.

Winterthur Museum Weddings | Karen and Chris

          Winterthur Museum Weddings

Last year was full of travel for me, but two of the most memorable trips I took were to photograph Karen and Chris, first at their Central Park engagement session in the Big Apple, then at their absolutely magical wedding in Winterthur, Delaware. But it wasn’t the jet-setting or the stunning locations that made my time with Karen and Chris so special (although those things didn’t hurt!). It was the couple themselves. They take kindness to a whole new level!
Karen and Chris’s October wedding took place at the Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library. I don’t often use the term ‘fairy-tale’ to describe a venue, but there is simply no other word for Winterthur! It is truly one of the most beautiful venues I’ve photographed, with breathtaking gardens and magical architecture that whisk you away to a different time and place. Karen and Chris’ cocktail hour took place around a pond! And when the sun set, the twinkle lights reflected in the water like a painting. The only thing more beautiful than the setting was the couple themselves. They radiate a calm, gracious energy that makes working with them a dream. While I was photographing the details, Karen looked at me and told me how happy she was that I was there. Little did she know that I was the one thrilled and honored to be there! Somethings I will never forget, and Karen’s kindness is one of them.
And the style!! Karen wore a stunning Hayley Page gown, and Chris was in a velvet jacket! So elegant! Karen also wore a necklace from her grandma, who is in her 90s and couldn’t make the trip from China. Such a sweet way to include grandma across the miles. The multicultural wedding included a Tea ceremony to honor the bride and groom’s parents. Family and love really were at the heart of Karen and Chris’s day! It was such a treat to see so many adorable nieces and nephews running around, enjoying the celebration.

Karen and Chris’s level of generosity and kindness makes me love what I do even more! I hope you enjoy these photos from their day! A huge thanks to Erin with Proud to Plan, it is always a dream to work with her.
