One of the most common traditions dating back to ancient Rome is the throwing of the rice at the couple at the end of the ceremony. It is believed that it will bring prosperity and good fortune to the couple.

Nowadays most exits are done at the end of the reception. There are a lot of options for them and it is a great opportunity for you to infuse your personality into your big day. Sparklers, lavender, confetti, bubbles, petals, fake snow, pompons, rice…the sky is the limit here. Some examples below.

The sparkler exit is the one I’ve photographed the most over the years, it is a beautiful exit and photographs really well. It is not my favorite though, at the end of the night a combination of fire and “tipsy” guests might not be the best idea. No matter the kind of exit, the key for a great photo is the combination of an exciting couple and guests.
