Charlotte Wedding Photographer | Katie & Art

Hello! It’s been a few weeks since I’ve blogged! But I’m delighted to wrap up the spring season with an entry about Katie and Art’s late spring wedding. This was such a wonderful day with a big, warm family whose love for one another, and the bride and groom, showed in everything they did. So it was an absolute joy to be behind the lens as Katie and Art became husband and wife!
It would be impossible to tell this couple’s story without mentioning two very important Bruces! First, there’s Bruce Springsteen. Katie and Art are big fans of ‘the Boss’– so much so, that they named their adorable labradoodle Bruce after him! Puppy Bruce played an important role in Art’s proposal to Katie over Memorial Day weekend. The couple had taken Bruce to Asheville for his first big hiking trip, and to celebrate Katie’s birthday. On the last night of their trip, Katie was getting ready for dinner when Bruce trotted into the room wearing a t-shirt that read “Dad Has a Question…” Intrigued, Katie followed Bruce out of the room…only to discover Art down on one knee holding a ring! Apparently, the next few hours were a happy whirlwind of giggles and joyful tears. Such a sweet proposal!
Their ceremony took place at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, with the reception moving to the Charlotte Country Club. The big ballroom was decorated so beautifully, it looked like a spring wonderland! The flower arrangements and lighting were whimsical and elegant, and the four-tier cake was absolutely incredible with its realistic flower details. From the string quartet playing “Born to Run” during the recessional, to Katie’s graceful lace-overlay gown, to the inclusion of Bruce the labradoodle in several of the portraits, the day was a stunning reflection of this loving couple! And aside from being such wonderful people, Katie and Art’s trust in me (and their relaxed, laid-back attitude) made this a truly delightful experience. I hope you enjoy these photos from their magical spring wedding in Charlotte!
